Students compete for Sky Sports slot

Six trainee journalists will see their stories published on skysports.com after competing in a writing workshop during Leeds Trinity’s Journalism Week.

Tony Curtis and Mark Buckingham from Sky Sports set more than 40 students the task of writing a piece about the RBS Six Nations, saying the best would appear on the website.

Mr Curtis, chief sub-editor and chief rugby union editor at skysports.com, hosted the workshop with his colleague Mr Buckingham, deputy editor and football editor, at Leeds Trinity University this morning.

Mr Buckingham said: “It will give students a really good incentive to produce good quality work if it will actually appear on theskysports.com website.

“From there, you never know what it might lead to.”
