There’s only four days to go until the first speaker of Journalism Week, Harry Gration, gives his talk at Leeds Trinity.

Earlier last week the Look North presenter picked up the Regional Presenter of the Year award at the Royal Television Society’s Journalism Awards and was described by judges as a “Yorkshire Institution”.

However this won’t be the first time Harry has taken part in Journalism Week after appearing in the 2012 line up along with fellow Presenter Jon Snow and BBC News Home Editor Mark Easton.

Mike Best, Senior Lecturer of Journalism and TV Production at Trinity said: “After last year’s journalism week we asked student’s who’d been there who they would like to see and one of the top names was Harry.”

“He is an inspirational guy and I think his story is one that students are really going to enjoy hearing.”

Since his last talk at the University Harry has reported on some major news stories including an interview with the Prime Minister on his visit to Leeds in February. He also reported from Camp Bastion in Afghanistan in the wake of our troops’ homecoming.

Most notably however, Harry rode 250 miles on a tandem bike with co-presenter Amy Garcia, in their Tour de Yorkshire challenge, raising nearly £150,000 for Sport Relief.

Lauren Curtis, 20, studying Journalism at Leeds Trinity said: “I’m really looking forward to hearing Harry Gration speak, as I did work experience at Look North and I’m really interested in his work.”

With over 30 years broadcasting experience working on Look North, Harry, who was also awarded an MBE for his contributions to the industry, will be talking once more about his impressive career to students at Leeds Trinity on Monday.
